The Community
Cooking Demonstrator Program is aiming to enhance
food purchase, preparation and cooking knowledge and skills
in the community, with a particular focus on nutritional
wellbeing and people living alone.
Eat Well Tasmania has partnered with the Country Women's Association,
Hobart Legacy, the Community Nutrition Unit and War Widow's
Guild to establish this exciting new project.
Beginning in 2008, keen members of the Country Women's Association
and veteran community will attend state-wide training workshops
to become Community Cooking Demonstrators.
The
proposed modules for the training workshops are -
- How to be a Community Cooking Demonstrator
- Basic nutrition information (including food safety)
- Healthy recipes
- Using the Cooking for 1 or 2 and Cook
Well Eat Well resource manuals (including microwave
cooking, kitchen equipment, breakfast, healthy snacks
and light lunches, easy baking, cooking with fish and
shopping wisely)
Trained Community Cooking Demonstrators will then be placed
on a database that will be managed by the Country Women's
Association and Eat Well Tasmania. Demonstrators will be available
to fill cooking demonstration requests in various areas around
the State from mid 2008 onwards.
