Cooking with the Big Picture School Launceston
This March, we teamed up with the Year 9–10 students from Big Picture School for a deliciously hands-on adventure in sustainable cooking. With the help of a talented chef and food waste advocate, Luke Burgess — plus a bounty of Tasmanian ingredients — students spent two days learning how to cook with purpose. That meant wasting nothing and appreciating everything.
The result? A mouth-watering feast served to 200 lucky guests right in the heart of the Inveresk Community Garden, on a warm, golden evening. From prepping to plating, the students dished out more than just food—they served up community, creativity, and care for the planet — and evening of conviviality.
